"Die Fledermaus" (The Bat) is a delightful operetta by Johann Strauss, full of lively music and a witty, humorous plot with well-defined characters.  Eisenstein prepares to bid his wife, Rosalinda, farewell. Through the incompetence of his lawyer he has been sentenced to spend eight days in the town jail. Although the situation is seemingly tragic, Eisenstein, his wife, and their ambitious maid, Adele, have devised their individual ways to get the most out of the situation. The evening continues with Prince Orlovsky giving a magnificent ball.  New friends and repaired relationships occur with twists and turns and plenty of preposterous, funny situations.  And how does this end? With all the complications solved, everybody joins in singing a toast in praise of champagne!
