Raquel Holt • Founder and Board Member

Raquel saw her first opera, Carmen, as a young girl in the Philippines.  She grew up in a home permeated by classical music.  During family gatherings an instant choral group was usually formed and beautiful harmony was enjoyed.

Raquel, along with her husband, Doug, and three other persons, founded Livermore Valley Opera that was incorporated in 1992.  Since then she has been involved in the successful evolution of the company as board member, artistic director, and producer.  Raquel has a B.A. degree in Music Education from the University of the Philippines.  With a full scholarship grant, she received the degree of Master of Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University.

She is a retired teacher of the Livermore School District.  She is also an active member of the Livermore Filipino-American Organization where she is chairperson of the scholarship committee.  Her other interests include gardening, reading, traveling, attending concerts, operas, and plays.
